A member of the Samaritan community holds the Samaritan Torah at Mount Gerizim, above the West Bank city of Nablus, at sunrise during a religious service marking the end of their Passover holiday. The Samaritan community claims they are descendants from a group of Israelites and assert they worship their religion in an unaltered form. There are only about 700 Samaritans in the world, about half of whom live in a village in close proximity and the remainder in Holon near Tel Aviv.
